STATISTICS ON DRUNK DRIVERS
According to the Polish Police Headquarters, as many as 47,235 intoxicated drivers were arrested in the first half of 2023. Drivers under the influence of alcohol caused 554 road accidents in the first six months of 2023, with 67 people killed and 653 injured. PENALTIES FOR DRINK-DRIVING* IN 2023
For driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, it is punishable: 1. Fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment; 2. Driving ban of 3 to 15 years; 3. a pecuniary penalty of between PLN 5,000 and PLN 60,000 (to the Assistance Fund Victims and Post-Penitentiary Aid); 4. 15 penalty points. *Alcoholic state is understood to be between 0.2 and 0.5 per mille, while intoxicated state is more than 0.5 per mille in exhaled air.
